Anzac Day

On Friday we cooked Anzac biscuits to remember the soldiers that fought so bravely for our freedom 100 years ago.
Thanks to Rose, Franka and Chris who help us become masterchefs!!!

This is the Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 cup of plain flour
1cup of rolled oats
3/4 cup of coconut
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup caster sugar
125gm butter (melted)
1/2 teaspoon of bicarbonate soda
2 tablespoons boiling water
2 tablespoons of golden syrup

Method:

Step 1               Preheat oven to 160°C. Line 2 baking trays with non-stick baking       paper.

Step 2                     Combine flour, oats, coconut and combined sugar in a large bowl.

  1. Step 3
Stir the butter, golden syrup and water in a small saucepan over medium heat until the butter melts and the mixture is smooth. Stir in the bicarbonate of soda. Add to the oat mixture and stir until well combined.
  2. Step 4
Roll level tablespoonfuls of the oat mixture into balls and place, about 5cm apart, on the prepared trays. Flatten until about 1cm thick. Bake, swapping trays halfway through cooking, for 15 minutes or until light golden. Set aside for 10 minutes to cool slightly before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Try cooking them with your Mum or Dad!!!!  It's a great maths activity!!!

Reading Groups

Today we got into our reading groups for the first time. We had so much fun.

The Kookaburras did a matching activity with the alphabet. They had to cut and paste capital and lower case letters.

The Koalas made golden words out of play dough.

The Emus did some creative play in the home corner and then read books in the reading corner.

The Possums read a big book with Sharon and then wrote their own sentences about the story in their language experience books.

Prep MS did a fabulous job during reading groups. Congratulations to all our clever readers!

Prep Birthdays

Congratulations to Christian, Natalia and Anastasia who all celebrated birthdays recently.

Happy Birthday!

The Mouse with the Too long Tail

We read this fabulous story about a talented mouse who showed a great deal of courage to overcome his long tail.

We made our own mouse with the too long tail.

Mathematic Patterns

We made some very interesting patterns today.

Using Prep children we made the following patterns. Boy, girl, boy, girt, boy, girl. Then short hair, ponytail, short hair, ponytail, short hair, ponytail. Then pants, dress, pants, dress, pants, dress. We are so clever to come up with all of these pattern combinations.

Welcome back to term 2!

We were so delighted to be back at school.

We made some mosaic names.

We counted the days in Prep MS we are up to 41!

Only 59 more days until we get to 100.
