Sharing Collections

We are getting very good at sharing collections.  Sometime we can share even amounts and have nothing left over.  Other times we have some left overs!

Shapes in the Environment.

In Mathematics today we investigated shapes around our school.  We were able to spot some really interesting 2D and 3D shapes.

A Semi circle

Triangular rafters

A circular drain cover

A circular hula hoop

A Cross

A square platform on the playground

A rectangular mosaic

A small and a large cylinder

A rectangular door

We even found some shapes that the older grades had made.

We are excellent at investigating shapes.

Pentecost

We have been learning about the Pentecost story in Religion. We recreated a scene with a colouring sheet.

Textures

Today we explored the different textures  we find in our world.

We read the story "Window" by Jeanie Baker then worked cooperatively in groups to create a collage of our own using materials with different textures.

Learning about Clocks

On Friday we made our own clocks.
We learnt that there is a big hand and a little hand.
The big hand is the minute hand and the little hand is the hour hand.
The clock that we made had 12 numbers on it.
We learnt that when the big hand points to the 12 it is an o'clock time. The little hand always tells us what o'clock it is!!!!!  We are going to practice reading o'clock times!!!
